why our oceans are in bad health

Why our oceans are in bad health.

What health is our ocean in? Hi my name is Jazzlyn and i'm going to be talking about why our oceans are in bad health. These are the 3 reasons our oceans are in bad health, these less fish in our sea due to overfishing, the ocean is getting higher temp and there's more pollution in our sea.

Firstly, pollution is a huge problem.  Did you know 100,000 marine mammals die every year from plastic pollution, this includes whales, dolphins, seals and sea lion’s. All of these mammals have eaten plastic fibers or micro fibers. 8 million tons of plastic enters the sea a year. That's 1 garbage truck of plastic in our oceans that is a big problem. Think about it. Would you like to swim in water with plastic in it?

Is it getting harder to get a fish to get fish on your line? Well there were more than 3,500,000,000,000 fish in the sea but that's lowering Overfishing is the removal of a species of fish from a body of water at a rate that the species cannot replenish, resulting in those species becoming underpopulated in that area. Did you know Almost 30% of fish stocks commercially fished are overfished, Over 60% of fish stocks are fully fished.

Lastly, increase heat. Did you find the water getting hotter every year? The temperature can increase at an average rate of 0.08°C  per decade since 1880 and over twice that rate since 1981.

In conclusion, I talked about how pollution is getting worse and worse, why it's getting harder to catch fish faster and how climate change is getting worse and hopefully you will listen to this.

  1. Hey Jazzlyn!

Welldone on your writing! You have stared your writing with a really good hook. You have made your 3 main points clear, you then made a paragragh each with information about your 3 main points.
